Four people talk around a 360 camera in the Supreme Court of Canada

Step into the Supreme Court of Canada in a touching narrative adventure. Explore hidden rooms, hear untold stories that shaped the nation, and craft your own novel inspired by the people whose lives changed here.

Echoes of the Court is a first-person video game that invites players to explore the Supreme Court of Canada and discover the role of this institution.

You play as a night-shift janitor with a passion for writing, wandering through the Court’s halls in search of “echoes” — fragments of stories, voices, and archival objects that bring to life an institution whose historical and social impact is often overlooked. These discoveries inspire the character to write a unique novel shaped by the player’s narrative choices.

Blending exploration and puzzle mechanics typical of first-person narrative games, the experience serves a cultural learning purpose: every corner of the Court reveals human stories connected to landmark decisions that have shaped Canada.

The context

This project was developed in collaboration with Jurivision and its partners at the University of Ottawa as part of the Supreme Court Experience, a multimedia educational initiative marking the 150th anniversary of the Supreme Court of Canada.

Echoes of the Court contributes to this broader project by helping audiences better understand the Court, while also offering a behind-the-scenes look at historic spaces rarely open to the public.

Working with a multidisciplinary team of professors, legal experts, and creators, we:

  • Recreated the Court’s spaces digitally, in partnership with INEDI (360° imaging) and Awastoki (3D modeling).

  • Transformed complex educational content into an immersive, accessible experience.

  • Designed engaging game mechanics grounded in historical and legal accuracy.

The result is a free, bilingual game aimed at law students, history enthusiasts, and curious minds alike.
